Lana Enix is an artist working across new media, sculpture, immersive and site-specific installation art. She creates visually striking and materially potent works evoking strong feelings that precede the mediation of words. By employing cutting-edge materials and technologies, Enix seeks to reach new, more poignant expressions of the timeless, inexhaustible themes, and to explore the complexities of human experience characteristic of contemporary reality. She often integrates primal forces of nature with advanced technologies, aiming to explore and evoke feelings of eternity and transcendence through her work.
Light and energy—both visceral and physical—are central to her art practice.
The artist frequently employs powerful physical energies for generating deeply resonant feelings and atmospheres in her artworks, whether through circular motorcyclist motion in ‘Island of 1 Flame’, a vortex of fire and light in ‘Axis on Fire’ and ‘Energy Axis’, or chemical explosion energy in the ‘From Within’ series.
Enix uses light as a medium to convey feelings of the sublime and spiritual. She creates immersive installations with light, as well as light-emitting sculptures and 2d works: ‘Love-Toxic’, made with fire, radiates light and colour; ‘Encapsula’ glows with chlorophyll-coloured “light of life”; and the glass-like volumes of the ‘From Within’ sculptures fill with daylight and glow ethereally.
Through her material artworks, the artist often aims to embody the immaterial, yet deeply felt and significant, aspects of human experience and effort, endowing these metaphysical realms with a distinct existence within the human consciousness and perception. Her work ‘From Within’ embodies the forces and mystical nature of the universal inner domain. The sculpture ‘Formation’ conveys the crystallization of thought and emotion. The works ‘Energy Axis’ and ‘Axis on Fire’ express an intrinsic resource of energy and visceral light within a person. The artist creates works and installations as empowering and mesmerizing experiences for audiences.
